Rancho Caymus Inn stands on land once awarded to pioneer George C. Yount as part of the Napa Valley’s first land grant. Today, the 26-suite inn provides guests an elegant retreat in the heart of the world-famous Rutherford Bench wine country. Guests appreciate the property’s connection to its heritage expressed in the keen attention to detail in the Spanish hacienda’s architectural design, materials, and furnishings. Each suite is named for a Napa Valley pioneer. Some names (like Black Bart and Robert Lewis Stevenson) are easily recognized, while others are not. Arriving guests are always delighted to learn the story of their pioneer that waits for them in their room.

Although history served as its inspiration, Rancho Caymus Inn provides all the comforts of a modern first-class inn. The rooms are spacious, split-level suites with bright stucco walls, wrought iron light fixtures, and carved wood furniture. Each suite offers an inviting queen- or king-size bed, 27-inch flat screen television, refrigerator, air conditioning, and free wireless access. A variety of suites are available, some with wood-burning fireplaces, window seats, and private outdoor sitting areas.

Although such sumptuous accommodations suggest curling up with a good book or board game, the innkeepers encourage guests to get out and explore the Napa Valley. After all, the Komes family are third-generation vintners. They own Flora Springs Vineyards & Winery and Toad Hollow Cellars—and Flora Springs The Room is a short drive from the inn, just south of downtown St. Helena.

The beauty of the natural springs and hillside caves of the Flora Springs estate inspired the design of this unique tasting emporium. Modern and relaxed, Flora Springs The Room offers a variety of tasting experiences. An appointment is not necessary for those wishing to drop in for a wine tasting flight or wine and food pairing. For those able to give a little notice, tasting on the scenic Rooftop Lounge and Barrel Cave Room tastings are both possibilities. And those able to plan 48 hours or more ahead can order lunch or a delightful picnic served in a charming wine country table setting in the picturesque Vineyard Courtyard picnic area. The Room also caters fun wine pairing dinners for groups of 20 to 40. Besides the Rooftop Lounge, there are two cave rooms to consider.
