J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines began more than three decades ago when Jerry Lohr became one of a handful of pioneers to explore premium winegrowing on California’s Central Coast. His search for an ideal vineyard location began in the 1960s, and he eventually planted his first vineyard in Monterey County’s Arroyo Seco appellation in 1972. Today, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines includes estate vineyards in three of California’s most esteemed winegrowing regions: Monterey County, Paso Robles, and the Napa Valley. From this palette of world-class grapes, the winery has created an acclaimed portfolio of wines recognized for their vibrant fruit and rich character. J. Lohr has also established inviting wine centers in both San Jose and Paso Robles—two accessible destinations for lovers of great California wine. The J. Lohr San Jose Wine Center was founded in 1974 and remains the only major winery within San Jose’s city limits. Remodeled in 2003, the wine center’s tasting room is both intimate and elegant, combining a granite tasting bar and limestone floors with exposed wood crossbeams and airy structural elements. The wine center is also home to a private event space complete with a full catering kitchen, which is in high demand for special gatherings, including corporate meetings, exclusive wine tastings, and private wine-paired dinners. Fun and informative wine education symposiums often occur here, as well as festive holiday events and a sumptuous series of J. Lohr Vintner’s Dinners. Guests attending J. Lohr Wine Club events, seasonal harvest dinners, and celebratory holiday open houses can taste from a select list of exclusive J. Lohr wines while mingling with former members, and often with Jerry Lohr and other J. Lohr winemakers. |

In Paso Robles, the J. Lohr Paso Robles Wine Center houses another winery facility dedicated to red wines. This is a true wine country event center that hosts many industry events on a veranda overlooking J. Lohr’s vineyards. In keeping with J. Lohr’s commitment to the environment, the wine center is also home to a state-of-the-art, three-acre solar array that helps to power the winery.
