Bianchi Winery

T&T's Winery Guide: Bianchi Winery

The vision for Bianchi Winery began in 1974 when Glenn Bianchi and his father Joe purchased a winery and vineyard on the banks of the San Joaquin River. There, Joe became one of the first in the United States to experiment with growing Italy’s famed Lambrusco grapes. A true innovator, Joe also dabbled with new concepts like wine in a can and wine coolers.

As the years passed and Glenn assumed more responsibility, he became interested in finding a place to grow ultra-premium grape varieties. When he discovered Paso Robles, he wasted no time putting down roots.

Special Notes

Weddings and receptions, picnic grounds, scenic view, pet-friendly, wine club discounts

He acquired 40 acres of vineyard property close to the intersection of Highways 101 and 46 and chose a sublime spot for the hospitality center to celebrate the commanding westward view. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame this breathtaking vista and the serene waterfall-fed koi lake that sits adjacent to the tasting room’s terrace. The hospitality center is an architectural joy, with an inviting fireplace, contemporary lighting, rustic stonework, and modern wood beams. It provides a frame for the Bianchi family vision and a way to share it with the thousands of guests who visit each year.

Winemaker Tom Lane joined Bianchi Winery in 2005 and was delighted with the family’s commitment to modern technology, almost as much as he was with the fruit. He crafts wines for two exceptional collections. The Heritage Selection is created from the estate’s unique single vineyards, while the Bianchi Signature Selection reaches beyond and explores the unique complexities found in an array of renowned vineyards throughout California’s Central Coast. By using Bianchi’s modern winery facility, featuring the latest equipment and a high-quality barrel program, Tom is making excellent-quality wines in the Bianchi family tradition.

Today, a new Bianchi generation is emerging as Glenn’s son Beau becomes more and more involved in managing all facets of the winery. Beau is convinced that his father chose the right place to put down lasting roots and make the quality of wine befitting the Bianchi name.
