2013 Priest Ranch Sauvignon Blanc
89 Points!! ~ Robert Parker
Robert Parker: "I like this 2013 Sauvignon Blanc made largely from the Musque Clone, which gives it honeyed and exotic tropical fruit notes along with the telltale white currant, quince and caramelized grapefruit and fig. It’s medium bodied, but surprisingly heady in alcohol. Drink it over the next several years."
This wine has ripe tropical aromas that burst out of the glass. The palate is crisp and full of ripe flavors that are balanced by the wine's bright acidity. There is a touch of richness on the palate from the lees stirring in the barrel.
Priest Ranch wines are all estate grown and bottled from the historic 638 acre Priest Ranch portion of the Somerston Estate in Napa Valley. In 2013 our Sauvignon Blanc fruit came from three small blocks: 71, 123, and 124, all planted at 850-900 feet elevations. The 2013 vintage was a classic, near perfect growing season. The long season, moderate temperature, major heat spikes followed by cooling, and lack of rains during most of harvest made for one the best vintages in recent years. (usual retail $22)
