The spirit of Kokopelli resonates in the golden hills of San Miguel and the estate vineyards of Pretty-Smith Vineyards & Winery. Known as the God of Fertility who played his flute to make the sun rise and crops flourish, this Native American spirit has served as inspiration for Owner/Winemaker Lisa Pretty. His image appears on many of her wine labels, in her oil paintings, which are on display in the tasting area, and in the form of the winery's standard poodle, who was named Kokopelli in his honor.
Thanks in large part to Kokopelli's canine namesake, warm welcomes are nothing new at the winery. But the Pretty Café is. Created to give guests the opportunity to truly experience Pretty-Smith wines with food and friends, the Pretty Café is exclusively open to members. Membership costs a mere ten dollars or is a perk for joining Pretty-Smith's Wine Circle—a club receiving wine shipments twice per year.
The Pretty Café is a feast for all senses. It's a bright yellow bistro featuring a large tasting bar and tables where members can linger and savor the wines along with the gourmet foods they select from a pairing menu.

| Inside, the walls are adorned with the artwork of local artists. Outside, natural art is on display. The café's windows overlook Pretty-Smith's 45 acres of vineyards, which include the first Cabernet Franc vines planted in the region. The café also offers a large outdoor deck for those who prefer to enjoy their wine al fresco. And there is much in the way of wine to enjoy here.
Since Pretty-Smith is a one-woman (and dog) operation, everything here receives Lisa's personal attention. Her 100 percent estate-grown Bordeaux varietals and blends are soft, smooth, and silky. And, with the addition of the Pretty Café, Lisa has chosen to maintain the quality of her wines by producing fewer cases, and entertaining guests more. As any member of the Pretty-Smith Wine Circle will attest, the spirit of hospitality united with the spirit of Kokopelli is truly something to experience.
