Led by Winemaker Lisa Bishop Forbes, the winemaking team at Chalk Hill practices a light-handed, noninvasive philosophy to emulate the essence of the vineyard in each bottle of wine. This delicate touch yields vintage after vintage of acclaimed Burgundian-style Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Semillon, along with a luscious red blend, Estate Red. 

 

A visit to this stunning property makes one appreciate the wines even more. Driving through the gate and up a long, narrow lane, guests begin to realize how unique Chalk Hill is. They are flanked by wilderness on either side until they reach the hospitality center. Here, they are invited to sit on the terrace and admire the stunning and expansive view, but this is only the beginning. Besides the hospitality center, winery, and 280 acres of vineyards, the estate has an expansive culinary garden, equestrian pavilion and stables, fishing and swimming ponds, a private chapel, a private residence, and two guesthouses. 

 

Guests who have done their research arrive with a reservation for one of Chalk Hill’s fabulous tour and tasting experiences. The Estate Tour includes an exciting exploration of the hillside vineyards and park, a discussion of winemaking and viticulture, and a tasting of the current release wines; while the Culinary Tour is a 2.5-hour adventure that includes a walk through the culinary garden and a sit-down tasting of wines paired with small plates.
