Located in the heart of the esteemed Rutherford AVA, Foley Johnson is dedicated to producing wines that reflect the brilliance of its exceptional terroir. The winery is the answer to Bill Foley and his wife, Carol Johnson Foley’s quest for the ideal world-class vineyard estate in the Napa Valley— one that would pay tribute to their heritage and families with an exceptional portfolio of wines.
Bill and Carol searched for years before they purchased the 50-acre Sawyer Family Estate in 2012 and renamed it Foley Johnson. Brad Warner, who has crafted the vineyard’s past 18 vintages, continues as executive winemaker, while world-renowned Winemaker David Ramey is involved in a consulting role. The wines are presented in two tiers: the Handmade tier is comprised of limited production wines from all Foley Family Estate properties, and the Napa Valley tier focuses on Bordeaux varieties from the estate vineyards and other exceptional sites in the Napa Valley.
Wine lovers with discerning palates make a point to visit the recently remodeled tasting room each time they visit the Napa Valley. They always discover something new. Foley Johnson changes its tour and tasting options with each season, and wonderful new wines are frequently released. Visitors may enjoy a Tour & Tasting, an estate tour followed by a tasting of current releases in the chic tasting lounge; a Tour & Barrel Tasting, an estate tour and tasting that includes a sampling of wines that are still maturing in the barrel cellar; or a Handmade Tasting, a seated tasting in the VIP Room featuring four limited production handmade wines skillfully paired with select cheeses.
No matter the tasting experience, guests at Foley Johnson are quick to appreciate the wines’ distinctive terroir, with the balanced fruit and gentle tannins for which Rutherford and the Napa Valley are known.
