Roth Estate Winery is like a breath of fresh air. Located just minutes from Healdsburg and Santa Rosa, this popular winery has made some notable changes in the past year or so. One change is apparent to returning guests the moment they arrive: There’s a stunning new tasting room to explore. Its beautiful blend of materials and industrial elements lend a relaxed, yet modern ambience. Floor-to-ceiling windows cast light in the expansive space and provide a view of the estate vineyards and rolling hills where a resident herd of buffalo roam.
This beautiful estate vineyard is part of the Alexander Valley AVA. Planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Merlot, it yields bold, fullflavored varietals. Roth’s other estate vineyard is located in the cool-climate Sonoma Coast AVA known for its rich Chardonnay and elegant Pinot Noir. Recently, Roth added a reserve tier from select AVAs and vineyards throughout California. These wines are representative of their growing regions and are so limited, they are only sold at the winery’s tasting room and on its website. Acclaimed Winemaker Leslie Renaud saw her first harvest as Roth’s director of winemaking last fall. It will be exciting to taste the wines she crafts from Roth’s exceptional grapes.
Guests are offered a variety of tasting experiences. Tasting Flights, held at the tasting bar, patio, or a picnic table, give guests an introduction to the history, appellations, and new releases at Roth Estate. From Wednesday through Sunday, lunch is available for purchase. It’s a great way to complement a tasting and become fully immersed in the serenity of the vineyard. Guests can also make an appointment for the new cave tour and tasting.
