With a history that dates back 111 years, Sebastiani Vineyards  and Winery  is one of the great names in American wine. It is the only Sonoma County winery that survived Prohibition and is dedicated to producing world-class wines that showcase the diversity of this abundant wine growing region.

This commitment starts in its vineyards, which are planted to conform to their various soil types and topography, resulting in rich and complex wines that speak to their terroir. Sebastiani also sources its grapes from premier vineyards in Sonoma Valley, Alexander Valley, Carneros, Dry Creek, and Russian River Valley—focusing on individual sites to craft small lots of superior wines.

Founded in 1904 by Samuele Sebastiani, the winery’s history has many chapters. Today, it is highly regarded by leading wine critics as one of California’s most distinguished producers of Bordeaux and Burgundian varietals and has recently been named in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of the Year list for its Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Guests flock to the historic tasting room to sample from the impressive portfolio that showcases many single vineyard and subappellation wines. The acclaimed Cherryblock Cabernet Sauvignon has long been Sebastiani’s flagship wine. The majority of its fruit comes from its original Old Vines block of Cabernet Sauvignon, planted in 1961.

Besides the lively tasting bar, Sebastiani offers several special tasting experiences that take guests on a deeper exploration of history, food and wine pairing, winemaking techniques, and the culture of wine. These tastings showcase not only Sebastiani wines, but also foods from some of the region’s most renowned chefs, cheese makers, and chocolatiers. The winery is a magnificent place to tour. Savvy guests make reservations in advance for one of Sebastiani’s many experiences followed by a leisurely lunch.

Sebastiani’s relaxed atmosphere and rural elegance make it a lovely haven that’s bound to be a favorite spot for special events and wedding receptions in the years to come.
