South Coast Winery Resort & Spa: State of the Art Tasting, Dining, and Resort & Spa Living in Temecula Wine Country
A seamless blend of world-class wine, gourmet cuisine, and utter luxury, South Coast Winery Resort & Spa provides guests a sublime experience while they explore Temecula Valley wine country. The only full service winery resort in the Temecula Valley, the 38-acre property began as a vineyard planted by Owner Jim Carter in the 1990s. Jim had a passion for growing plants and he and a team of vineyard experts meticulously tended the rich soil, intent on cultivating superior fruit. The fruits of their labor were first bottled in 2003, and in 2004, the first South Coast Winery wines were entered in competitions. In less than a decade, South Coast Winery has won more than 1,600 regional and international awards—a number that is unsurpassed nation- wide. Jim is extremely proud of the fact that the winery was also the first—and second—southern California winery to win the coveted Golden state Winery of the Year award from the California State Fair in both 2008 and 2009. Jim relies on master Winemaker Jon McPherson and Winemaker Javier Flores to craft the impressive portfolio featuring three labels including South Coast, Wild Horse Peak Mountain Vineyards, and Carter Estate Reserve.
The pastoral beauty of Temecula Valley has always been a source of joy and inspiration to Jim. He wanted to share it and create a way for wine lovers to thoroughly immerse themselves in the area, so he developed a luxurious resort on his property. The resort offers 76 divine private villas offering up to 1,150 square feet of magnificence. Each freestanding villa features a private veranda overlooking the vineyards, a fireplace, flat screen TV, marble and granite bathroom with Jacuzzi tub and separate glass shower, and plush robes. The latest release for this five-star resort is an all new three-story 50-unit all-suite addition opening in the first quarter of 2013.
What’s more, the three-story 15,000-square-foot Grapeseed spa offers a state-of-the-art fitness center with free weights and aerobic equipment, private yoga studio, heated out- door saltwater pool, private alfresco saltwater Jacuzzis, seven-head Vichy shower, steam rooms, dry saunas, and 11 treatment rooms. Widely considered to be the premier resort spa and fitness club in the area, Grapeseed Spa provides a wide range of massages, body treatments, stress relieving spa packages, and annual events.
The property is also the site of the popular Vineyard Rose Restaurant, winner of the Wine spectator Award of Excellence, Open Table.com Diner’s Choice 2012, and voted Best Restaurant and Chef in the Inland Empire 2012. The stylish Tuscan-inspired restaurant offers seating indoors and out on a terrace with sweeping vineyard views, and a tempting menu of Mediterranean dishes. There’s a semi-private dining room for meetings and other events, and the terrace makes a great venue as well.
South Coast Winery Resort & Spa hosts many conferences, meetings, and weddings with more than 30,000 square feet of flexible event space. The Grand ballroom, amphitheater, Barrel Room, and private banquet rooms are all attractive venues. And this year, Jim is adding room for a few more guests with a brand new boutique all-suite hotel tucked away in his vineyards.
Just about an hour’s drive from San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles, South Coast Winery Resort & Spa provides everything one needs to get away completely—without going very far at all.
