Certified organic for farming and winemaking, Demeter Certified Biodynamic for farming and winemaking, private tastings and tours, wine club discounts, picnic grounds

The sheep and goats that graze and fertilize Beaver Creek Vineyards' are as important to the winemaking process as its owners feel they are.

Czech Republic-born winemakers Radan Kolias and Martin Pohl, along with their partner, wine connoisseur Josef Rusnak, strive to produce unfiltered wines of the cleanest, purest quality. Their winemaking process is completely natural and they add only the absolute minimum amount of sulfites—and only when necessary.

All Beaver Creek Vineyards wines are handcrafted and aged in 50 percent new French, Hungarian, and American Oak. But Radan, Martin, and Josef all quickly point out that Mother Nature is their senior winemaker.

The winery proudly became certified as a CCOF organic winery for both farming and winemaking, and then as a Demeter Certified Biodynamic winery in December 2010. “Our Biodynamic farming practices are essential to creating wines that are truly original,” Martin says. “That’s the only kind of wines we bottle. Wines whose flavors and tastes come from the elements of nature.”

Beaver Creek Vineyard’s commitment to nature is reaping its share of rewards. Besides producing wines that purely express their terroir, Beaver Creek Vineyards is making an impressive showing in noted wine competitions including The San Francisco Wine Competition where the rich, peppery 2007 Zinfandel, Lake County was awarded a silver medal.

Wine lovers who want to help promote the unity and balance between nature and humanity are invited to visit the winery, located a short, scenic drive north on Highway 29 from Calistoga. They are also encouraged to visit the Beaver Creek website and join the Limited Edition Estate Organic/Biodynamic/No Sulfites-added Wine Club. With each new shipment they will toast the livestock and micro-flora that work in the vineyards to create the pure and delicious wines of Beaver Creek Vineyards.
